How it works
Step1: It starts with a conversation
You've made it this far, welcome. We find a time for you to meet our creative director and understand the story you want to tell. The creative director then works with the rest of the creative team to develop the story arc the film will follow. We share our ideas with you and make sure your happy with the direction. If you are, we move to the next step.
Step 2: Planning
Our mission is to make documentary film making something you can fit into your busy life. Good planning and clear communication are essential ingredients. This helps us deliver your amazing family documentaries at a price that doesn’t break the bank.
We share a detailed set of questions that outline the themes you'll be addressing in the film. We put dates and locations in the calendar. At the same time the creative director assigned to your film meets with the rest of the creative team. This is to sync the entire group ahead of time so there is no inefficiencies along the production process. This is one of our promises to you, read our six promises to you here.

This is where it gets exciting. Once we’ve got an outline of what’s important to the story, we plan the video shoot. This involves storyboarding. Our team draws out the entire documentary, scene by scene. The process is a continuation of our diligent planning. It helps our videographers know what to shoot while on location.
Then on the agreed time the videographers come out with the cameras, lights, and microphones to begin filming.
We'll share a memo with you ahead of time, outlining what the videographer will be shooting, how long the interviews will be, and what you should expect. The creative director is always on hand to answer any additional questions you might have that we haven’t covered.
-
Your personal photos and videos can really enhance the quality of the story being told. As part of our planning, we take some of your existing family photos and videos and our editorial team incorporate them into your final film.
-
Once the filming is over and we've collected all the family footage you want to share, we move to the final phase of production. Our editors work with the creative director to edit a film you'll love.
We present a first draft for you to review, and the creative director works with the editor on your feedback. We present a final draft to you and the project is over.
As part of our promise to you, if you're not happy with the final draft and we can't edit it to a standard you love, you owe us nothing. We simply won't invoice you.
